At St. Johns Personal Training, building strength and improving mobility isn’t just about what happens during your sessions, it’s about how you support your body outside of them. Nutrition plays a key role in recovery, energy levels, and overall performance, and that doesn’t mean meals have to be complicated.

Sometimes, it’s the simplest additions that make the biggest difference, like this creamy, nutrient-dense cashew “cheeze” sauce.

This plant-based sauce is one of my favorite ways to elevate a meal while adding in healthy fats, minerals, and flavor without relying on processed ingredients. It pairs perfectly with bowls like black beans and rice, roasted vegetables, or even as a dip, making it an easy go-to for clients who want to eat well without overthinking it.

Cashews are naturally rich in healthy fats, which are essential for hormone balance, brain function, and keeping you feeling satisfied. They also contain important minerals like magnesium, which supports muscle function and recovery, especially important if you’re strength training regularly.

Nutritional yeast adds more than just a cheesy flavor. It’s packed with B vitamins, which help support energy production and overall metabolic function. For women who are working on building strength, improving endurance, or simply feeling more energized throughout the day, these nutrients can make a noticeable difference.

The added spices, garlic powder and smoked paprika, not only enhance flavor but also bring anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits. This kind of intentional eating supports the body’s natural recovery process, helping you get more out of your workouts and feel better doing it.

At St. Johns Personal Training, the goal is to create a lifestyle that supports strength, longevity, and feeling good in your body. That includes workouts designed specifically for women, hands-on guidance, and simple nutrition strategies that are realistic and sustainable.

Because real results come from consistency, and that includes what you’re eating every day.

If you’re looking for a way to support your workouts, improve recovery, and build lasting habits, it starts with simple choices like this.

Cashew “Cheeze” Sauce Recipe

Simple, creamy, and completely customizable

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cashews (soaked)

  • Water (enough to just cover the cashews in the blender)

  • 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast (adjust to taste)

  • Garlic powder, to taste

  • Smoked paprika, to taste

  • Salt + pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Soak cashews in water (at least a few hours or overnight for best texture).

  2. Drain and add to a blender.

  3. Pour in enough fresh water to just cover the cashews.

  4. Add nutritional yeast, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.

  5. Blend until smooth and creamy.

  6. Pour into a small pot and heat on the stove over low heat until warmed through.

  7. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.

Tips

  • Add more water for a thinner, drizzle-style sauce

  • Use less water for a thicker dip

  • Great over grain bowls, vegetables, or as a dairy-free alternative to cheese
